Post subject: Searching for a LARP in the Dallas area
I've tried to make my own LARP and can't seem to find any testers at the moment, so that's being put on the back burner. So, I'm posting here because I'm looking for a LARP in the Dallas area. I enjoy playing a barbarian style character, and would like to do so in whatever LARP I play. I used to play Amtgard, as a barbarian and I did wear(at least at events) pretty much just a loincloth and a leather vest. I know that some people may feel uncomfortable with this, but that's how I do my barbarian character when I go to renaissance faires, as well as when I played Amtgard.
There are two major downfalls to my search. The first is that I do not have reliable transportation at the moment (not enough money available to afford insurance, gas, AND normal living expenses.), so for any LARP I play, I will need to get a ride to and from the park that the game is played at, and to events as well.
The second downfall is that I don't have a whole lot of money, so LARPs that charge more than $10.00 for events will be somewhat difficult for me to pay at the present. Because of not being able to afford going to expensive events, games like NERO are not going to be viable options.
With those in mind, if anyone knows of a LARP that I can go to, where I can get a ride from just north of Dallas (in a city called Farmers Branch), I would be greatfully appreciative.

Post subject: LARP in dfw area
Might I suggest Dragon Crest--a medieval fantasy LARP. When I was living in the dallas area, I sampled a few LARPs, and DC is by far the best one. It's a national game, so you can create a character in dallas and then fly to Massachusetts and play that character there! Anyways, the official web site is
www.dragoncrest.com.
The owners of the dfw chapter are John and Cindy Dees--
JohnDees@aol.com
and
CindyDees@aol.com
respectively. Cindy checks her email a lot more often because she stays home with their daughter. John flies airplanes and is hence gone a lot. Have fun!
