I've seen this topic only today...

Lo Zeno (that means "the" Zeno), aka Luca Zenari. 22 years old, student of telecom. engineering, d20 handbooks translator for Italy, I play RPGs since I was 13 and LARP since I was 16.

The "LARP school" I follow can be explained by: if there's a way to do it for real (without harm for no one) then it doesn't need a rule. In short, no "parry!" or "steal!" shouting. It's a rule followed by most of Italian LARP associations, but it doesn't equate the "very few rules" of Jupe: Magic is almost always heavily ruled.

I am in charge of a fantasy LARP with almost 200 players. Not huge, I assure you, I play also in other LARPS with over 300 players.
I am a Star Wars fanatic, but I started my RPGs life with the old classic D&D Red Box. Through the years I've played D&D/AD&D in every edition, Cyberpunk 2020, Star Wars (in every form), Chtulhu, and JAGS.

I'm a writer also, I've published a few collections of poems and 2 long stories. I'm planning to publish also my first fantasy novel soon.

My LARP experiences include MET/WOD and Lorien-based rules system, and a few more custom Italian rules system (but these ones realy suck...).
I love acting too.

Typically, my characters are wizards or skirmishers. In SW, I love the Jedi type.

What else? Boh, if something comes to my mind I'll write it

Hello,
I've been out of the game for the past few years and I'm looking at getting back in. I'm located in South Jersey and I am currently checking on a few of the games in the area(NJ,PA and DE) if you have a game in the area please let me know and why your game is the best, time is so precious and I want to maximize my gaming.

I've spent the last year or so overseas and am amazed at all the new Larps out there. Oh I guess I should sorta of introduce myself. Just your typical middle age guy who enjoys fantasy (including all the chessy stuff) very intrested in working with armor (Already got the chain down, like to work on plate). When I larp I enjoy working with the plot and cast the most. I enjoy helping to bring the game to life for so many PC's. I have the greatest respect for the cast rain or shine all day and night they're playing that lonely goblin with pride and spunk. Got plenty of customs from Fops to Knights. Looking forward to the boards.

This is as good place for this message as any...

It's been a year since I first posted something here. WOW. It has been a quick one. Made a new friends, maybe some enemies... Had a lot of arguments, had some good conversations, had a lot's of ideas with no one commenting... lol

Thank you all for this. It has been a blast. I hope that it will continue like this...

P.S. I didn't want to open a new topic as we can always recycle the old ones...

OK...

Hi, I'm Tom Conneely AKA Dr. Golightly in CP AKA Alexander McGrath in Maelstrom. I'm a UK player and I've been at it since 1989. I started out playing Lazertag SF LRP with NOAG in my native Norfolk, took a break and resumed in 1997 playing the CP Renewal campaign where I've managed little of not except losing lots of characters, a jinx I hope to break in Maelstrom this year...we shall see, won't we...

I play and run events at club level with House Velent'm in Norfolk. I'm also a weapon safety minion in CP.

On the other side of life, I work as a VFX tech in the film industry in Soho, London, and I'm a member of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) so Beer Festivals chew up as many of my weekends as LRP does.

Fully agree with that. Here's to Shade's, the first and best international larp website.

I never introduced myself here, probably because I'd done it on some earlier thread. But in brief: Ryan Paddy, 29, web developer, larping in New Zealand since 88, never played in other countries (but hopefully that'll change next year), sell latex weapons through www.paddywhack.co.nz, currently running www.mordavia.com, Grand Schemes R Us.

That figures, it's a nice looking website you've got.

Are you short of forest in your area? Your photos have very bare backgrounds, they leave the impression that you're playing in the outback. Wink

The area we play (our days games) has a lot less bush than we'd like - but for insurance reasons it has the best to offer.

Our overnighters are located at bents basin - great venue - but can be overcome by public in summer months (also a sister venue of our day game locations)

In sydney regions, insurance is the killer - it's what led to the demise of the group I used to play with.

I designed the site Sad which isnt a good thing. I'm a programmer by heart - and my design skills aren't the best. However it does the job.

Im currently redesigning the site to use far less of the beige colour and a lot more white. Looks a lot cleaner. Will also house a lot more content, which is currently lacking.
Also, it will integrate a lot more with the players data, rules and so on. Quite exciting! for me anyway Wink

Rich Caller, another UK person who has been live roleplaying since some time around '87 or so. Started with laser-tag around London before moving to the NW. Since then I've played loads of games and been involved in running a few. Also one of the ancients from r.g.f.l-a

Currently thinking about running a new game at some point....

Time for me to chime in. Smile

My name's Luke Matthews. I live in Bellevue, WA, and I'm currently working off and on as a game tester at Nintendo. I worked at Wizards of the Coast for about 4 years in both their Customer Service and R&D departments until I was laid off in September of 2002, and since then I've been all over the map, creatively, moving amongst many freelance jobs doing graphic design, layout design for a popular RPG supplement, and writing.

I've been playing tabletop RPG's since I was about 10, when I was introduced to D&D and a hybrid of Battletech and Mechwarrior. I started LARPing when I was 14 (in late 1992) at NERO Northwest in eastern Washington state. Since then I've played innumberable LARPs at least once, but have only been a truly regular member of 4: NERO, Legacies, Amtgard, and currently my own game, Unification LARP.

Unification is my current project. I tend toward what many on these boards - especially European LARPers - would consider "rules heavy" LARPs. I simply believe in having a solid, fair, and unquestionable rules system behind my LARP games, so that everyone knows what's going on and there's never any question.

I'm currently co-writing the second rulebook for Unification LARP, the Guide to Campaign Events. When that's done, I'll be moving on to co-writing and editing the Unification LARP: Book of Friends, a book of monsters and challenges. I write articles regularly for a few different publications, I'm attempting to get my animation portfolio going, and I'm about 25,000 words into my first novel.

Blah. That's me. You can find a bit more information, if you want, on my LiveJournal at http://www.livejournal.com/users/calidran .

Just found this board a few days ago in my quest to help boost some name recognition for our Boffer Larp. My name is Ryan Thune, I started LARP with the SCA since i had a love for medieval history, fantasy, tolkein, and all things sword related. SCA quickly put a bad taste in my mouth and I quickly left. My wife, girlfriend at the time, introduced me to a group in Southern California, called Atlas. It was dis-enfranchised SCAdians who started fighting with Shinais and weighted boffers. This group had poor character development and alot of inter personal problems. Polotics eventually destroyed the group. By this time I was married and had moved to Washington state and started up my 2nd chapter of Atlas when it fell assunder. Those of us left now were groupless. We looked into Amtgard and found their fighting a little to light for our tastes. I then in my scowerings of the internet found Bicolline. Since then we have created Athair here in the Seattle Area of washington and have been trying to build a group whos live combat is found somewhere between SCA and Amtgard. We also focus heavily on period fighting techniques since I have studied Espada Longa for 7 years and many other members have been studying the art of the fence. We are still trying to hammer down our identity as to what we do as a large organiztion. On the locall level which we are presently at, we have oposition kingdoms, banquets, assassination attempts, kidnapings, skirmishes over territory etc. I craft armour as a hobby, lots of chain, leather, working with plate for the last 6-8 months, the learning curve is getting smaller. Also our group is working on some Latex weapons with proper praportions and weight. I love a good system and a fun time where people are in character and having fun!

Outside of LARP I operate an online RPG for about 8 years now. At its height the game had 140 players, that was nuts. Im an amature author when I have time to write these days. Enjoy tabletops such as D&D, Warhammer FB, Original Battletech. I also enjoy history and the research/debate there of.

My name is Kris Speer, but my friends call me Speerical, Sphereical, Speeritual, Angus, Zodd(My first LARP character), the Smith, and of course Speer.
I live in Connecticut and I went to school for graphic design and illustration, but rightnow I work at the local Blockbuster and people have been urging me to go back to school and become a film critic. Guess I do a good job. Been LARPing since, hmmm, 97 maybe...
I've played a little NERO, but for the most part I play Stage of the Open Air. A LARP my friends and I developed a while back and can't seem to stick with a set of rules for more than a year or two. We call it a backyard LARP cuz eventhough we seem to have all the makeup and props to play we don't have any property to play on, forms to fill out, or other stuff you find at an "official" LARP. We just tend to have someone choose to host, they set a date, and find a place, usually a public park that's out of the way enough so that we won't be disturbed. All in all I have as much fun playing this way as I do at an official over night event somewhere.
I recently built my own game, Myth of Ages and I think its a step up from Stage, but don't tell my friends I said that.

ok my turn....name's Natalya Chernobieff and I am one of the organizers of the Mortal Tears LARP played in the Seattle, WA area. I started playing tabletop RPG's 14 years ago when i was 15 with D & D, then moving on to Rifts, Shadowrun, Earthdawn, Cyberpunk, Star Wars, Magic the Gathering and a few others i can't think of. When Vampire the Masqurade came out, i fell in love and played just about all of the White Wolf games. My first LARP was an unsanctioned MET game played in someone's backyard. Camarilla came next and after a year, some friends of mine started a boffer LARP called Legacies. That was 9 years ago and i've played boffer LARP ever since also including a little bit of Antguard. I ran my first boffer LARP in 2001 called New Earth 1165, but i ran out of money and found out the hard way that players in the NW really aren't interested in a post-apoc LARP. Last year I organized a one night boffer LARP based on Vampire called Club Crimson and wouldn't you know, the theater got condemned the night of the game!! Talk about bad luck! Hopefully this won't carry over to Mortal Tears! But thats my LARPing history in a nutshell.

Outside of gaming, i help my fiance promote raves and industrial concerts making the flyers, business cards, club deco and updating his website. I'm also a freelance web developer trying to get an actual job doing that, but currently i'm a marketing coordinator for a real estate company. I dabble in writing my own music and i have alot fun as an industrial DJ. oh and my artwork is fun to do too!!
