Post subject: Small LARP in AK- advice needed!
Hello, I am Coryn Windblaze (actually, that's my LARP name). I am fourteen and located in Alaska, on the Kenai Peninsula, and am workng on creating a LARP. I need a little bit of advice on props and some other pointers, if you could share. The LARP is not likely to get beyond 10-12 players (we have six right now), but it has a very detailed mythology (which actually happened in the game world) and history. The first try went very well; however, the objective was reached earlier than I'd hoped (approximately 10:00 at night). I have races such as Orcs, Dwarves, Moon Elves, Humans, Elves, Satyrs, Dark Elves, Kender, and Barbarians, and some job classes such as rogue, paladin, mage (with many sub-classes), freelancer, mercenary, bard, warrior, healer, and dragonmaster. We use wooden weapons until we can get hold of some latex or foam ones (as my character's a Kender, that shouldn't be too difficult), and I have strict rules until we do (I have the scars to show why.).
Again, if you have any advice or tips you could share, I'd be much obliged.
Sincerely, C.W.
P.S.: Our body point system is slightly complex, and I also don't wish to give away all my secrets, so I shall refrain from explaining (for now at least).

First thing is go ahead and give away the rules. Put them on a website so anyone can read over them. There are no new rules under the sun.
Make the game the best you can make it.

Well, in that case, We've got it so that each person has six points for the torso, four points for each limb. they only get +1 every fourth level, and a typical 1st level attack does 2-3 damage. There are a couple different planes, so people wear a brown head/ armband if they are in the other accesible plane (The ancient forest), a white one if invisible, and a black one if they are shadow-walking.
When speaking another language, you place a finger on your lower lip, and thensay the name of the language you are speaking.
The map for this is about three feet tall and two and a half feet wide.
I'm working on a rulebook.

Less hit points on locations or do away with locations and just have hit points.
Simplify.
Trust me on this one. What seems good on paper is confusing when three attackers are on you and you are trying to track hits.
It will cause arguments and confusion.
See some of my post "A Simple Set of LARP Rules Part I, II, and III".
These rules are a tested set of rules that are based on The Realms BUT even simpler.
The Realms are over 20 years old.
Simplicity is the key.
Getting people started and understanding the rules in less than five minutes is the key.
A fantastic story is the key.

I have. Actually, my system has worked pretty well in practice, I've tried it once.
Lots of keys, are there?
more keys, easier to pick the lock.
And I do have a pretty good storyline, though I need some help with props and recruiting NPCs. And before you ask, it's fantasy-based. If you hadn't figured that out by now, well...

Anyway, I have lots of space for it, what with my yard and three of my friend's yards, all quite large. I'm actually going to give certain bonuses for armor classes, for example if someone has a metal guantlet on their left arm, that arm has a +1 bonus, but the other is normal. Now what should I do for my buddy who has actual plate armor?
