THE NOVEL RPG UNIVERSAL CHART
20 Perfection
18-19 Extremely Good
16-17 Very Good
13-15 Good
9-12 Neutral
6-8 Bad
4-5 Very Bad
2-3 Extremely Bad
1 Disastrous
Step 1: The Gamemaster writes up adventure.
Step 2: Write up a Character and give the Character reasonable Equipment.
Step3: If a character tries to do something and is able to do with ease the character succeeds. If there is a pivotal time in the adventure the Character rolls on the chart. The roll is not modified in any way. The result is read from the vantage of the skill of the character. For example if a skilled person and an unskilled person both get a Very Bad result it will mean different things for each Character. A bad roll is not always a failed attempt to do something. It is a change of plot against the positive flow of the Story. This is actually a good thing as it makes very exciting stories. Damage is judged from the weapon used, the protection offered from cover, armor, and stamina and the result of the Plot Roll. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

I started to really think about the idea of a Free Form Pen and Paper RPG but hated the idea of no randomizer.
It is all the Nordic Finnish LARPers fault!
So I added a plot Randomizer outside the game or story.
I will be writing some essays on "One Roll to Rule them All!"
Does this FF RPG make sense?
Is this intuitive enough to just figure out? _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

I like it! It's pretty straight foward.
I would like to start roleplaying, but each game I look at has rules that I think are way to overly complicated and unneccesary. _________________ Where were you when they began to walk?
They Walk Among Us
"You are what you eat....And I'm a human"
"Having a Paladin tell a monster to go screw himself doesn't exactly constitute roleplaying" |

Well then just get some people to write some characters and start playing.
Have a small town being besieged by zombies. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

This "system" works really well with superheroes and really good with Sci Fi role playing games.
Any Fins out there to try it out?
I mean if your LARPs developed in freeform with only the small influence of RPGs why can't there be an RPG with the influence of freeform LARPs?
In playtesting this system it worked fantastic except to rules lawyers. They had no set of rules to min-max as everything was GM fiat.
All others noticed that it took a couple of seconds to make a character and the action was more anime to action movie. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

Zombies, Mutant mooses, Killer demon lords named Eldrad ]:0P hehe.
I have seen some rules where it was so complicated. It wasn't funny. I forget which group it was. But it had a healing class. That all it did was heal. And for some reason the rules made it so they couldn;t fight to defend themselves. or something. It was reallly weird. I'll let you know which group it was if I find my copy of the rules. _________________ Just when you thought the worse was over. Here I am. :0) |
