Hi everyone
here is one close up of the tip and another one of the sharp.
as for custom orders it's possible but since the developement cost for a new model is pretty high we can't make a unique model. But i know they already made custom orders for groups or organizations. You need to garanty you will buy at least a certain amount if you want a new model to be develop and if you want to have exclusivity on it, the developement cost is mostly at the client charge.

Thanks for the close-up, that gives a nice view of the join too.
I was kinda hoping for a more squared-off view of the blade tip, so the shape would be more apparent. From that shot, I gather it's kind of like one side of an hexagon with a flat tip and two 45 degree angles to the edges.
Is there any reason the tip doesn't get narrower in profile, or that it has a flat end? It's the one part of the weapon that looks definitely wrong compared to real sword shapes.
Overall they're quite nice and something I'd consider buying or stocking at some point. |

ah, I see. thoses pictures arent from myself I took it from an european forum named Trollcalibur. It's in a technical file of our weapons made by independent larpers overthere.
Next time I take my camera i'll make sure to have the picture you wanted
And yes, every thing was tested before.... it took a couple of years of R&D to get that result. The tip doesnt get narrower for technical reason.
I am not the expert on that matter but I've been told that a broader striking surface absorb shocks better. The tip is said to be diamond shaped and it's flat so you can thrust on harder surface ''a full plates for example''
And for the join well.... it comes with molding but you need to take a good look at it. You would not even notice on a battlefield. That being said, we are looking for the day we have the technology to mold without..... a mold-line |

So they're intended for thrusting? That's appealing, and it makes some sense.
Even leaving aside shock absorption, I would rather get that flat sword-end thrust in my eye than a sharper point, as it would likely stop on the rim of the eyesocket like a flat-fronted larp arrow. |

Does that answer your question dansrobe?
As for the tip Ryan, you know your thing, I couldnt say it better.

I use dual Calimacil Gladii in the larp I play in (http://www.triumphlarp.com). They have a thin edge but no one has complained about being hurt by my swings. Our game is "litest touch" though so I'm not swinging all that hard to begin with.
I will say that the silver powder coating did wear off after a single day of LARP and instead, my blades are a dullish grey. (I'm fine with that.) There have been two deformations so far, teh first being when I was fighting someone with a ill-constructed duct tape sword that ended up having some of the sticky side of the tape exposed. When we were dueling, the tape caught hold of a dime sized section of my blade and caused it to either break down or ripped a bit of the coating off (I can't tell) because now it looks like the area was held over a candle or lighter or something because it looks burned. The second deformation is when i lent my blade to a friend and he ran it through a thorn bush. Once I pulled all the thorns out, they left lasting tears and cuts in my blade's foam. This is of course due to lack of good care but I wouldn't say the material is tear-proof.
The swords have lasted me well over a year at this point. They do last MUCH longer than typical latex skinned weapons. They are a bit more expensive but I would say you really do get what you pay for. I doubt I will ever buy any other weapons that need to be under 42" long from anyone else. |

The product is still young (4years) and i met some Calimacil users who have used them for 3 years and even tho they are a bit worn by the heat of battle (like voodoomon swords ) they are still usable for what they are made for.
Usually when people buys a 2nd or 3rd weapons it's because they want a new model. Not because their 1st one is broken.
And yes voodoomon you are right, maybe the translation is not right. The word is ''indéchirable'' and it would be translated by something like unrippable instead of tear proof. I have seen a weapon completly ruined by a cat... the sword was still safe and usable but oooh so unesthetic! lol that being said we had less than 1% return last year on almost 2000 swords. |

| Exactly! I would NEVER return my blades. I just used them both last weekend and they are just as great on Saturday as they were the day I bought them. I would only say that they can only be hurt or damaged if misused and incorrectly wielded. |

I desided to restart this topic and show you some of our new models.
(I write "our" since I started a company back in 2007 to import Calimacil to denmark... and now I work for Calimacil)
The Sanguis. (longsword)
One of our squire swords. The handl is unpainted to keep the price down.
The Odo mace.
Again a squire weapon so its not painted.
(the head can be painted with "boltgun metal" from Games workshop)
The "Knight of Emerald Sword"
Its one of two swords with our newest blade.
Durability:
take a look at http://www.calimacil.com/weapons/all/sanguis.html
It have a short movie showing the durability of the weapon.
(similar movies will be added to other weapons soon)
I stopped using my first swords a few month ago. (got it in july of 2007)
So it only survied for 2˝ year...
But please not that I have done all the "bad" things with it.
Look at the movie... done it all 3-400 times.
A normal rule for latexweapons is "don't put is on the tip"
The only time this sword have not bin standing on its tip have bin when I used it.
Add to this the fact that I have stabed it with full force against hard unmoving things like brikwalls... 3-400 times...
and offcause I have used it a lot for 2˝ years.
So It is understandable that the tip is getting worn.
(not dangerous, but since I show the sword I use to a lot of larpes, It better to use a new weapon)
Blade shape
the Emeral sword and the "Ragnar, viking warlord's sword" have the newest blade, but most of our swords still use our old "diamont blade"...
But we are working on a new blade that will replace it.
The new blade:
