|
|
| Quote: | There's a new auction site called The Merchants' Guild that is going to be going live soon at http://www.merchants-guild.com - It's a FREE auction site for LARPers, SCA, Renaissance Faire, and all things medieval. No site fees or auction fees!**
The Grand Opening Date for the site is going to be September 5th, but if you have something you want to sell on the site (if you don't have something ready to sell, you can do a commission auction instead), let me know and I can get you early access to post the auction in advance. And if you have any questions, lemme know!
Please spread the word to all your other LARPs and LARPer friends, as well as anyone else who might be interested. I'm really hoping to have this site turn out to be a real boon to the LARP community, and it can only do that if people know about it and participate in it.
----------------------------------
**I get so many people asking how the site pays for itself: It does so with advertisements, donations, and paid sponsorships. Paid sponsorships are cheap and totally optional; they provide added bonuses on the site, but you still get access to all the main features as a free member. |

FYI the site IS actually live now, and we've got a few sellers up already that are really happy with it and have made some sales.
We're DEFINITELY looking for more sellers, so if you do any kind of crafting, or you have spare things lying around the house in your LARP closet/room/garage/storehouse (we kinda have a LARP room spilling over into the livingroom at my place, haha!), please check out the site! Even if you don't have anything to sell right now, you can post example pics and auction off commissioned work! (There's an auction for a couple of commission custom dresses up right now, for example.)
We want to make it easy for people to buy and sell things for LARPs without having to go through the hassle of making their own website, or paying fees for overcrowded places like Etsy or eBay. We ARE always taking suggestions, and I'm personally happy to help anyone who needs help in navigating the site or making their first auction. _________________ - The Merchants' Guild - http://www.merchants-guild.com -

Hrm...
I might have to put a pair of the wings I make up for auction.
The frame design was inspired by latex weapons (core between foam) and the feathers are felt, so they can be scotch-guarded. The pair in the picture below are a year old now and are still strong after the abuse of LARPing, cons, parties, and transportation.
(that's me BTW) _________________ Club Crimson: a Vampire Nerf game - http://www.biomechine.net/clubcrimson/

| They hold up great. She's been beaten, jostled and cramped into halls with those wings and they keep on kicking. |

Working on it! I've been pushing it to sellers at local Renaissance and Fantasy Faires (just went to a great one this weekend) and trying to pimp it on all the LARP and Renaissance places I can find online. Not being a member of the SCA, though, means I can't really post to anything SCA.
Any promotion anyone can give would be awesome! We don't have the money for advertisement (it IS a free site after all) so it's all word of mouth, and we can only do so much.
However... If the leads from this weekend pan out, there should be more in the way of general costuming, leather, armor, and jewelry showing up. *crosses fingers*

FYI there's some new interesting stuff up, like weaving supplies, footwear, and knit copper wire jewelry. One of my roommates got a loom from one seller, and it's horribly addictive.... _________________ - The Merchants' Guild - http://www.merchants-guild.com -
