Post subject: Hello! Dave here.
I have played in a LARP off and on for about 4 years now. Was introduced to the idea by friends in Kentucky, then when I moved back to Indiana found new friends who LARP on a regular basis. I have not been out for months due to family and school. Which actually brings me to a request.
I am finishing my Masters (yay!) and I am needing some information. I am looking for some market information on the latex weapon industry. If anyone can help me with that I would appreciate it. Basically what I need is an idea of the financials of the industry. If anyone knows the SIC number that would work too, but some solid information about Ex-Caliber or another manufacturer would be of great help.
Looking forward to getting back out on the feild of battle once this round of education is over!
Dave

Post subject: Hi and Hello
Hello All...
I am George Stadalski, I am a 38 year old soldier and federal technician that has been trying to get a LARP called The Age of Heroes started in Upstate New York. I have been gaming since high school, I am reduced to DMing for my kids (which is actually my favorite gaming experience). I have been trying to get a LARP started for a few years now. I got deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005, and have not put much effort into the restart again until now. We had some successful events before the deployment, but now we are looking for staffers, NPCs and a new site. I am also entertaining the idea of partners and investors (this is too much to do by myself).

Hello, everyone!
Name's Jerry and I'm just starting to get into this LARP-thing. My LARP interest doesn't particularly lie with any era in history but not necessarily fantasy, either. My options, however, are open.
I guess my goal is to obtain that unorthodox look and I'm drawing most of my inspiration from Robert E. Howard's Conan stories (I'm a bit of a Conan-geek). Since I haven't really found anything that fits the bill, I'm thinking of creating stuff from scratch. I figure this would be a great place to find all the help I'd need.

Hey Jerry. It's in the wrong country for you, but there's a Conan-era larp in the UK called Hyborian Tales:
http://www.hyboriantales.com/
The guy who runs it - Ian Sturrock - also wrote a Conan tabletop RPG. Might be useful for some ideas, or if you're in for an overseas trip.

Thanks for the head's up! I'll look into it.
I think I saw their website a couple days ago, but didn't really look to great lengths.

And now it's my turn.
I am rev. Jimmy Anderson. But you can call me the Baron. I got involved with LRP now called LARP back in high school. whne I picked up an old Mag named GM from the UK. ever since then I have been bitten by the LARP bug. I originally started my own group Knights of Chaos. Then went on to MFCO aka Medieval fantasy combat organization. Also known as Medieval Mayhem. Then went to Empire of Adria. Did the Renaissance fair scene. Now I have come full circle and want to be involved with LARP again. Recently moved back to my home state of Mass. So I look forward to getting involved again. My last group was Kingdom of the Roses. I still keep tabs on groups in the UK. And sad to hear that Portly Pixie went out of business. I hope this helps.

Currently I am between groups at the moment. But I am hoping to hook up with a local Larp group though. And I know of a couple. But when I did run a group I tended towrds a UK style of LARP.

Amber Eagar (a.k.a. dicemistress)
I've been a LARPer for some years, primarily focusing on fantasy-medieval live-combat LARPs and a short stint in the Camarilla (playing NWoD theater style LARP). I live in the Greater Seattle Area or for those not familiar with Seattle, the Pacific Northwestern part of the United States. Outside of gaming I work as an assistant account executive for a digital marketing company. I was a fairly common poster to these forums a few years back before I dropped off the face of the earth due to real life issues.
Current LARP projects :
Mortalis Games/Mortalis LARP has been my pet project for several years. I was forced into about a two year break a couple of years back because real life decided to throw a couple of curve balls. Last year I was able to return to work on that project. Outside of LARPing I do enjoy a well run table-top game, however trying to find a group that I like has been a challenge.

Have you ever met Calidran from the Inland Ocean and Amtgard group?
I think his real name is Luke Matthews????
He was the guy behind the Unification Larp back a few years ago.
If so tell him we said HI!

I don't know him personally, but I have heard of him. If I ever do meet him in person I'll be sure to pass on your hello.

My real name is the same as my nick: Maria.
One of the German larpers, alongside Rraurgrim and some guys that are not as active.
My first roleplaying experiences were P&P but when a friend discovered larp he talked me into trying it and I did - after initial doubts that a hobby where adults run around in the woods, wearing silly costumes, hitting each other with rubber and shouting jibberish would not be cringeworthy.
What can I say, I never went back to tabletop and dice. Larp is just so much more: crafts&creativity, physicality, raw emotions, adrenaline, visual pleasure.
I am also interested in "international larp cultural exchange" and whenever I'm abroad for a longer time I try to find local larp groups. So far I've met some nice French and American larpers (hello Amber!).
My group has been larping since 1998 (high school), mainly enjoying events that would be categorized as being of the "medieval fantasy combat" type by US standards - but the focus here in Germany is definitely not boffer battles but roleplay and adventure. I've some experience with NPCing for Vampire live and historical larps and would really like to do future settings at least once. Right now, post-apocalyptic settings are on the rise in Germany...
My group founded their own incorporated society (for tax and liability reasons), Condra e.V., to organize larps in 2001. If you understand German, visit us at:
www.condra.de
It's all volunteer work, we are not allowed to make any kind of profit. Since the millenium we have organized over 50 events, ranging from the smallest "one-day larp taverns" or "runs" (think Shadowrun, but fantasy-style) to experimental larps with fantasy and historical settings (1950s, Cthulhu, 1920s, 1970s) to the big budget (30,000$, two castles, underwater dungeon, 200 participants) anniversary celebration. Right now we have calmed down a bit because some of us are moving away, some no longer have time because of their jobs, some are starting families. We still offer a monthly tavern larp that is free of charge but with no plot and no NPCs.
As for real life, my final master exams are coming up and the PhD phase of my education begins this summer so I'm not sure if I will be able to do any larping. Other interests of mine include camping at ren faires with my 15th century group, baroque dances, sewing, martial arts, all things Japanese and much, much more.
If you're interested in German larp (fest larps, small larps, weapons, rules, whatever) I'll be happy to answer questions.
