Damn, that's a good argument Eldrad. I wouldn't want this evolve into a shallow beauty competition, but one of its goals is to make LARP look attractive and interesting to non-LARPers. If we can dispel a few myths along the way we should.
I also agree with Bill that makeup needs its own category. 4/5 of our costume/makeup finalists were non-human looking, probably because we rated them both for their costume AND makeup, not one or the other. That undermines the costume category.
Likewise we need a group category to stop groups from stealing the show from sets.
I foresee more than 7 categories next year.

Yeah, more categories it is.
Eldrad... We finns don't have that particular problem, we have 50/50 ratio of men/women and the chicks are taking over... In few years, it will be 40/60 or even greater. But I understand your point of few. I also look like that minus glasses, + bath + long hair and beard. We are not considered to be nerds, not anymore anyway.
Bill : I'll repeat what I have said earlier... giveusakissyouangrylittleman
And by joke I mean that the poster has a sense of humour that appeals to me (he/she proved it by sending that photo to LARP dude category, other would have been monster category... )
Now I need to take my medicine so I can enter the happy land. _________________ Very few rules, very good games and ... Awesome food. |

Angry Bill
To Eldrad - I'm with Ryan, the inclusion of LARP Babe is kind of sexist and not the best possible presentation to promote LARPs. I think (and have posted) that it would have been better to go with Best Costume Male and Best Costume Female. Not only does it remove the sexism but it keeps the Oscar feel and separates make-up to its own (IMHO, neccesary) category.
Let's have best costume!
BUT enjoyment of another's beauty is not sexist. Mabye the term Babe is not quite the "best" term but even the most liberal anti-sexist women I have met enjoy being called a babe. Really the term babe is not degrading or sexist and is a great way to promote LARPs.
If you do not agree then "lighting bolt! lighting bolt!lighting bolt!lighting bolt!lighting bolt!lighting bolt!lighting bolt!lighting bolt!lighting bolt!lighting bolt!" to you! _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

| I've posted the link to the vote page on Pagga.com (the UK live roleplay community) and the Nero forums. If you're on other forums, please let them know about it so we get heaps of votes and interest for next year. |
