Sadly I'm a novice in forging Sad I have grown sick of weapons crafted of PVC pool noodles and miles of ducttape. I can use any advice give on crafting a unique weapon. I want a weapon that's going to turn heads before crushing them. I guess my very first question would be what materials are preferred by the masters of the craft?

First off apologies for the sarcastic sounding first post. I met it as a desperate call for help, and not the rediculing fragment it seems to be. I have waded through tons of crap and nthing helpful until just now. Quiche Commandoes has a wonderful material list and step by step for anyone who may just be curious of other methods. So now i have a few more simplified questions. First off i want to make an axe, i have a pretty good idea on doing the weapon core but as far as the axe head itself I'm at a loss. Would it simply be thick latex covered foam? My other question is how do you get the unique shapes that professional larp weapons have.

There are several instructional videos on YouTube. I've watched some and they are pretty good.

My experience when it comes to axes is fail an error.
- If it gets to soft (a hollow head or something like that), you end up hitting with the core
- If you make it to hard, you need to find some trees and beat it soft, before you can use it Cool

It is basically the same technique as building a sword.
I made a small tut for a sword here.

But to get a better picture I found a little DIY on a warhammer, its in Danish, but there is some good pictures of the head.
