Spam

You will have noticed there has been a lot of spam recently.

A certain amount of spam is hard to avoid, and it's a matter of deleting it as it arrives.

However, some of this is the same spambots posting repeatedly. While we moderators would like to delete these bot accounts permanently, we don't have that power. So we're going to keep seeing them for a bit.

I've let Shade know about the issue. He's a busy guy, but hopefully at some point he'll deal with it.

In the meantime, there's not much point responding to spambots. It just creates one more post that needs to be deleted. A mod will delete the spam when they see it, until then just ignore it.

Can I just reiterate what Ryan said, by pointing out that replying to spam posts puts them at the top of the list, and therefore pushes legitimate posts down the list.

My fault. And to be honest I wish I had the power to delete their posts. And teh funny thing is. It's the same spambots again and again.

There were two new spam posts, and I've just deleted them.

The mods will delete spam as we see it. We don't live here though, so sometimes it may take a while for spam to be noticed.

Shade is the only person who can do anything more. I haven't heard back from Shade recently.

We have a new spambot. I have asked Shade to let me mod for him. I have mod experience. But so far no response.

The spam is out of hand yet again. I have made it known I have mod experience. and since I am on this board more times then anyone else it seems. I once again extend my notice of wishing to be a mod on these forums. and help clean up the spambots. I know I would not be able to ban hammer them. But at least I would help clean up the forums.

Only Shade is able to make give people mod permissions. We haven't heard from him recently.

I know I e-mailed him a while back and got no reply. And I see 3 different spambots in one forum and yet not one of their posts are deleted.

I just noticed and I deleted a spam post. I am happy I am able to help with my favorite larp forum. Now to our scheduled larp talk. Oh I can delete their posts just can;t ban hammer them. So far we have one in particular who is spamming valentine weight loss tea or whatever.
