I have 21673 views of all the post for this topic before this post if you add parts I, II, & III.
So what I am wondering is between all the rule systems and styles out there, what do you think of this set of "fest" rule?
If these were ever used in a Fest Style LARP one could have a person on site and trained in the rules in about five minutes. The person would not even need a rulebook. How long does it take to train someone in your rules? Is there confusion and learning curves?
What are your various opinions? What would you like to see added to these rules that would make you out there of various styles want to play these rules?
I am trying to avoid a huge skill set and only have story and social ranks?
I was thinking about adding something like a healing surge that could heal one wound. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

|
|
Why should only people that do combat have all the fun? So I have made a simple set of rules covering social damage after a short discussion on Combat Damage and effects. Notice that I have tried to stop there being any kind of complicated mechanic involved.
Social Damage will not always be tracked by the player but also by the society at large IF the player decides to get into society. Many warrior types follow the Honor System.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
BOSS Conditions
In this pamphlet we discuss other aspects and conditions that effect Players other that JUST combat.
Life and Death
Wounded - When hit in the limb or body you are wounded.
Dying- Any hit to the body you are dying and dead in five minutes.
Dead – When you have had a hit to the body and have went past five minutes.
You can shrug off some wounds once a day with a Second Wind. All Second Winds act on the body first then the limbs.
Second Winds
Tough-All fighting types 1 a level
Average-All lees than pure combat occupations 1 per 2 levels
Weak -The more scholarly and studious types that do not do physical labor 1 per 3 levels.
Health
There are other forms of injury out there. Here they are.
Petrify – You have been turned to stone.
Incorporeal – You are no longer solid and can effect nothing unless you can cast magic.
Poisoned – Poison come in Deadly, Moderate, and Weak. You begin dying in one/five/ten minutes wherever you are hit. You must be cured of the poison before you can be resurrected. A second wind used at this time gives you one/five/ten extra minutes. Deadly cost 20g, Moderate 10g, and Weak 5g.
Diseased – You have a disease and will die in a certain amount of time depending on the disease.
Dying – In five minutes you shall be dead.
HACKED – Your body has been destroyed and there is no resurrection for that persona save a rite or ritual.

SOCIAL DAMAGE
Face and Honor
There are other ways to get injured in the LFR other than combat. You can be dishonored and loose face. Everyone starts out Neutral and can go up or down from there. Gains can come from heroics and good deeds while losses occur from unheroic deeds, rumors and insults. Honor can be gained by debate and duel or trial by combat.
Dishonored
Honorless
Neutral
Very Honored
Extremely Honored
Social Rules
The social ladder and status in society is important to some. Everyone starts out at Average and can go up and down from that level. Scandals, rumors, low face and honor, hanging with others of lower social status can lower your social status.
Below
Low
Average
Good
High
Very High
Financial Gain
The average character starts out with 5 gold. If he so chooses to become a merchant he can grow to great wealth and power, possibly becoming a financial power in the game. He can loose by treachery, robbery, fines and fees made up by government.
Spiritual Gain
Spiritual Gain can occur as a priest become higher ranked within the church.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I MAY ADD GOVERNMENT RANK AND POWER AS WELL UNLIKE A CLASS LEVEL THESE SOCIAL LEVELS CAN GO UP OR DOWN WITH ONE SINGLE ACCEPTABLE OR UNACCEPTABLE ACT.

Why do you need rules for social interaction?
That's one thing that people can play without OOG reasons for phys rep/replacing it with rules (such as fighting that cannot be done for real).
And why are almost all of your rules circled around "fighting" and "dying"? Is that everything your magic/potions do? |

I use mechanics for social interaction for precisely the same reason that I use mechanics for fighting: to allow players to play characters of differing ability levels.
Just like not all of us are excellent marksmen but want to play a sniper, not all of us are slick, fast talkers but may wish to play a great orator. Mechanics for social interaction allow a nebbish to play a great showman. |

Well the player would not track this, a plot team would "put the word out" that this person would now be at a lower scale.
There is a need for it in some systems as these things are forgotten by many.
As in fighting and dying only, these rules are just the combat system and nothing else.
All other role playing interactions would come from play and did in the older system that this was based off of. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

Well the old wizard Eldrad is still around with his huge long post.
Hmmm I have been thinking of putting it all into one book but the pamphlet is such a cool idea and it's easy to print and distribute.
I could see these rules working for a large fest style event and for a long term role play.
The advantage of these rules? You can learn how to play in five minutes. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

As this old wizard's hair begins to have traces of grey he looks back in time and wonders if any of his efforts and questions will be remembered. A wave of nostalgia hits me when the chips are down. The fool's hope of my larp are now reconised as that. The fools hope is still there just as any fool like me will always go on. I hope one day to actually make an event but only cruel fate shall tell. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

I was thinking that the first priestly spell should be heal as well but the priest need to prove themselves to their gods before receiving that spell. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

Wow I really got a freaking HUGE amonts of reads if you combine Parts I through III but still no takers for the rules.
Damn...
These rules could be used for a huge Larpfest.
My bills are getting smaller and the land in the country is getting cheaper.
Just maybe one day 40 acres and then a Larpfest. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

Well my event this last Saturday went well. I had over 5000 people show up at 5 bucks a head plus 10 percent of all food and drink. I made over 40000 bucks on my first weekend and completly paid off the fifty acres with 10000 left over. The next event will be June 16th due to high demand. I am expecting around 8000 people next event. I let them leave all the buildings where they lay until next event. _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

Damn I just got an investment group out of Belgium to invest in a 5 acre dungeon. It's going to be climate controlled and full of lights and sfx. It will be contained in an above ground hill made from storage containers. They also are building a 80 room inn. I spend no money but get a percentage. It's all looking good from last Saturday. Also Dreamhollow special effects studio is going to have an office here! All this from Last Saturday! _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

For 600 a year or fifty bucks a month you can lease a 12 x 12 space and build you a building on the lease. We are creating a town or maybe a city. The first one hundred people are going to get one share of stock. It all because of this Saturday and what I did not get to say! _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |
