dagorhir's ragnarok draws between 1500-1800 people.
SCA's Pennsic war averages 10,000 people a year, it has to register a city here in PA. If you count SCA as a LARP then this would be the biggest.
I never have nor will I ever see SCA as a larp. It is a history recreation group. They also hold a special non profit tag. I forget the name of it at the moment like Empire of Adria does. Might be the biggest medieval recreation event in teh world. It's not Larp in my eyes or history recreation folks.
The SCA to me is neither fish nor fowl- people aren't trying to simulate any historical events, there is no specific and narrow enough time period for participants in any given event to qualify IMHO- Pennsic ESPECIALLY.
And yeah, the SCA is non-profit (a 501(c) group). That's actually not a bad state for a LARP to be in, even if the SCA isn't quite what you'd consider as one. They're pretty much in a class of their own. |

If you ever stand face to face with Aniesha Fey, you never will say 'elf' to her.

I wouldn't. I respect her more then that. And I have told her on youtube that as well. She's very pretty and very deadly. _________________ Just when you thought the worse was over. Here I am. :0) |

My opinion is that Vinshaar are a little bit boring. Some of them are sweet maybe. But the Charakter-Type is boring.
You can`t fight with them, you can`t resist them, in the most cases you can`t speak with them only thing you can do is run run run and run again if they scream.
Last times i seek another NPCs to play. With the undeads for example the game makes a LOT more fun. _________________ "Für den Imperator und Ankoragahn!"

It is possible to interact with the Viinshar....you just need to take the correct steps. But I understand your point. For most players (like myself) I will be running from them. Often.
I'm an old SCA heavy fighter from way back. I would argue that the SCA and larp in general are more alike than both communities care to accept. The SCA certainly is a mix of larp and re-enactment being neither to a purist.
But these days, to reduce chances of injuries more than anything else, I'm a larper. I live in the UK now and whilst the SCA is around larp is a more vibrant community. And now that I have experienced German larp...well all I can say is that its AWESOME!
I went to drachenfest and mythodea in 2010. I had so much fun that this year I am organizing the UK Grand Expedition, to go back to those events but this time...with minions.
Its going so well we are no longer just UK (I'm American by the way)...we are an international group of english speaking players. I've got folks from all across the globe joining us. I'd love to have more americans and some canadians (represent Bicolline!). |

| I'm hoping we can fully document our experiences to share with others. I'd like to encourage folks who have heard of the events and always wanted to try them but didn't think they realistically could due to the logistics of it all to get in touch with me. |

I'm new to this and I'd really like to get involved. If anything is going on in the DFW area like this - let me know. |
