I have discovered this OGL return to 0e D&D called Swords and Wizardry.
I must say this nearly free form minimalist sysytem based off the original edition of Dungeons and Dragons has set of my creative sparks!
I made an entire dungon with map, monsters and treasure on paper in less than 2 hours. A feat that cannot be done with current version of D&D.
4th edition is fun but it took HOURS to have a few large battles.
Not knocking D&D (as I am an avid edition whore and will play ANY version of the game) BUT the simplicity of Swords and Wizardry just brings out that creative childlike wonder that I first had when I first played DnD when I was 11 and I am 39 now.

Did I mention that it was FREE!
You can buy a hard copy off of lulu which it was a best seller back a few months ago.
Anybody want to get together on this board on this topic and write an old school S&W dungeon just for the fun of it? _________________ I know the pieces fit! I watched them fall away! |

Hi dear friends, The Swords & Wizardry Companion will strive to offer free resources, gaming aids, adventures, as well as various S&W related odds and ends. Hopefully ...
Within the Resources section of the site you'll find new rules or rule variants for Swords & Wizardry, as well as gaming aids, character. You have any suggestion then please share with us. _________________ Glow in Dark Wristband |
