Shade's LARP Census

Often I receive questions asking how many people LARP. I do not think there is any one place that collects this data. But it would be great to know.

One interesting way I found was to use Google's Frappr which plots out the location of people and places on a map. This can be a great way to see how far Larplist.com is reaching around the globe. Take a look and if you want, add your location to the LARP Census! Hopefully we can show that LARP is a huge movement around the World.

We now have 484 people signed up so far!!!! Keep signing up! Thanks.

Upcoming Events: Lullaby of Broadway Casting Soon! - submitted by buggy
Posted on Tuesday, April 22 @ 05:35:21 EDT (32 reads)
Time is running out!

Lullaby of Broadway, the live action roleplaying game where you play characters from some of Broadway’s most beloved plays, is casting at the end of the month!

What does that mean? Well, in Lullaby of Broadway, all of the characters are written by the GMs and given a complex, intricate back story, and the focus of the LARP will be interactions with other characters.

And we are assigning characters to players at the end of April. You have a great deal of input and tell us what you want and we give you the best match we can.

How many open slots are left? As of this writing, we have fewer than 20 open slots left, and they’ll be going fast.

Lullaby of Broadway runs September 19-21 in Timonium, Maryland. It costs $25 to register and you pay the balance at the door. The balance depends on how much you help out the game, and will typically run between $25-$50.

Event Information: http://www.interactivitiesink.com/larps/broadway/signup.pl?eventid=1

And I’ll b happy to answer questions here as well!

Upcoming Events: Sepia Goes Live - submitted by midmosatyr
Posted on Sunday, February 10 @ 15:45:11 EST (97 reads)
Sepia is a new chronicle set in White Wolf's Old World of Darkness, but rather than it being set in the Goth-Punk world of the published materials, we will be exploring a Gothic-Pulp theme. Set in the 1920s Sepia allows us to play up a different set of Moods and Themes, many of which from a LARP perspective are traditionally done in CoC chronicles, but with more of a pulp flair that you migth get from movies such as The Mummy and The Shadow.

We are based out of Columbia, Missouri Our First game is Feb. 16th, and we invite everyone to visit us at http://sepia.wiki-site.com and http://Sepialarp.freeforums.com

Upcoming Events: Frontiers Free Playtest October 27th, 2007 - submitted by massfrontiers
Posted on Monday, October 29 @ 20:55:38 EDT (233 reads)
Frontiers is a live action role playing game based out of Southern Massachusetts. We aim to bring you some of the most exciting adventuring in the Northeast. Our campaign is unique in that it is a traveling adventure where you may never visit the same region twice. We will eventually settle down to a town setting and you will come upon towns here and there when our sites allow us. By using this method of live action we can bring you a rich world full of wonderous places, creatures, and peoples unique to a specific region. Not to mention the plot that also comes with being a stranger in a strange land. Our no level no class system allows players to create any character they wish without being labeled or limited. And with all the skills you will never have to make the same character twice. Owned and operated by William Blouin and David Courville , who have over 15 years live action role playing experience each. We have both written content for many of the multiple chapter icon Larps played today. We hope that this rich background will bring your fantasy adventures to life in a ways that you will remember and cherish for ages. We invite you all to our first play test October 27th at West Thompson lake. For any info pm here, on my space, or contact us at massfrontiers@yahoo.com for any details or with questions. Or check out our myspace at http://www.myspace.com/massfrontiers We will be there like 9am-4 or 5 pm. Ill post directions on the myspace page soon. Thx- Bill Blouin and David Courville

Larp News: Obsidian LARP Playtesting - submitted by flamesrising
Posted on Friday, September 21 @ 19:58:44 EDT (247 reads)
You are about to step into the shoes of one of the citizens of the Zone, a monolithic city that houses the last survivors of the human race. Kultists menace the conduits, stalking souls to fuel their malefic Convokations. Mystics struggle to keep the Daemonic threat in check. Machines fall away from the imperfect humans around them. Corporates profit from the chaos and the rest of the populace just tries not to get caught in the crossfire.

We are looking for playtesters for the Obsidian LARP project once again as new chapters and expanded mechanics hit the development and edit stages. You can download the free Obsidian LARP Quickstart to get things started (the Quickstart is also available in print -here-). The core mechanics of the Obsidian LARP can be found there. The upcoming playtest material will expand on those features (new Rituals, Convokations and expanded character options).

Announcements: Lullaby of Broadway - submitted by buggy
Posted on Wednesday, August 29 @ 21:10:56 EDT (269 reads)
Interactivities Ink Proudly Presents Our Next Star Studded Extravaganza:

Lullaby of Broadway!

From the people who brought you PRAWN, Brassy’s Men, and Colonel Sebastian T. Rawhide’s Circus of the Spectacular comes an all-singing, all-dancing fun filled LARP that will have you tapping your toes and hollerin’ for more!

Lullaby of Broadway is three episode series of stand-alone weekend long LARPs that are all based on well known Broadway musicals, run in a style similar to Shakespeare’s Lost Play. There will be no continuity of plot or characters between the episodes, just a general theme of singing and dancing.

Our first episode, Another Openin’ Another Show is based on such beloved Broadway classics as:

_ Annie Get Your Gun
_ Bye Bye Birdie
_ Carousel
_ Guys and Dolls
_ Hello, Dolly!
_ Kiss Me Kate
_ My Fair Lady
_ Oklahoma
_ Paint Your Wagon
_ Seven Brides For Seven Brothers
_ The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
_ The Music Man
_ The Producers
_ You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown
_ More added all the time!

Another Openin’ Another Show will be held the weekend of September 19-21, 2008 at the Day’s Hotel Timonium, in Timonium, Maryland.

While everyone will have the opportunity to sing and dance and perform on stage, it isn't mandatory. Players may always choose to be part of the crowd.

How much does it cost? Well, that is a tricky question. It can cost as little as $25 or as much as $100. It depends on how much you’re willing to do. Save money on the game by helping set up, getting a room at the hotel, bringing in new players, signing up early, and via a myriad other means. But still, imagine that: a full weekend-long LARP for only $25. That sort of price hasn’t been seen in over a decade!

For more information about the game, or to register, point your favorite browser to:
